And where did all that time go????
I am back at a heavy work schedule - working on a proposal that has a 30 day turn time. If you are in government contracting you will know exactly what that means....weekends are included!
Last week I stayed pretty close to my schedule. I missed my Monday run but managed to get the other days in, including two strength training sessions. On Sunday I had a great 7 mile long run at a 11:26 min/mile pace with a nice low aerobic heartrate average of 154 bpm.
This week, however, has been disastrous for my training. The RFP for the proposal I am working came out on Friday so this week has been very busy. I missed my run and strength training on Monday. I did a short 3 mile run on Tuesday, in spite of having only 4 hours sleep the night before (but did it at a 10:24 min/mi pace). After getting a regular night's sleep on Tuesday I got out on Wednesday evening and did my 45 minute tempo run. My goal was to run 45 min at 10:30 min/mi pace. As usual, I started out a bit fast, running the first couple of miles at about a 10:00 min/mi pace. I took a few short walking breaks and finished the 45 min run with 4.4 miles at a 10:13 min/mi pace. Not too shabby! The run felt really good and the 165 bpm AHR (83%) was about right for a tempo run.
But, alas, today I did not run or strength train and I won't get a run in tomorrow with the schedule I have. Today and tomorrow I am actually taking a class at work while sitting at the back of the class working on my proposal (with the teacher's permission). I will try to get a short run in on Sat and do another 7 mile long run on Sunday. I feel bad that I missed all my strength training this week, but I hope to squeeze it back in next week.
The hardest part of all is getting sleep. I have to make myself go to bed...which reminds me. Time to get some sleep!!!
As for the Anniversary podcast - I probably won't get to it until Sat night or Sunday, so if you were going to send me anything you still have time! :-) I have a few cool recordings to share already.
Nitey nite!

Chris! hats off to you for managing to get some training in in the middle of all that work (and 4 hours sleep). You're only human hon - and this should last your lifetime - so you will be fine.
Yeesh -- busy lady. I understand.
You are doing a GREAT job juggling it all, in my opinion.
I look forward to the podcast -- but take your time with getting it out -- we can all wait a few more days! :)
After reading the blog I was more tired than you with the proposal, the training, and the lack of sleep. I believe you did good. Remember, that we are to manage the unexpected.
I think you did great to do all you did! Sometimes life and work gets in the way of the things we want to do. Don't look back, just keep going. And don't worry about getting the podcast out by a certain date. Though we are all anxious to hear it, I'm sure none of us want you to have any more stress during such a busy time.
Chris,
Hope your work schedule lightens up and the training continues on track.
I feel your pain. I have a hard time, especially during weeks like this, sticking to my schedule. Everything will work out...just do not press yourself trying to get caught up and back on schedule.
Good luck, and take care of yourself.
I know I struggle with getting enough sleep... it's not easy. Keep it up!
